Description
Emergency Medicine Ultrasound is a hands-on, practical skills based course for individuals working towards accreditation in POCUS as laid out in the four domains of the RCEM curriculum. That said, we welcome anyone in emergency medicine who would like to learn or build confidence in ultrasound.
What is covered?
Sessions include hands on ultrasound scanning on Lung, vascular access, cardiac, AAA, FAST scanning and Fascia Iliac blocks. Teaching is delivered in small groups by a multidisciplinary team of experienced POCUS clinicians using cutting edge hand held devices.
The updated 2021 RCEM Core US competences include Fascia Iliaca compartment Block and the systematic approach to the patient in shock (RUSH protocol). These skills complement the traditional four core competences in Emergency Medicine Ultrasound of extended Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (e-FAST), assessment of the Abdominal Aorta for Aneurysm (AAA), focused Echocardiography in Life Support (ELS) and Vascular Access.
